AFA Frontier Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
 Pro-Standards

April 14, 2014
Fellow Flight Attendants,

This time of the year is one of many transitions.  Spring, arriving after a long, cold winter, being one of the most welcome ones!  However, transitions can be challenging for many of us, and not all are joyful.  If you are experiencing challenges in your life at work or away from work, your EAP team is a valuable resource.

April 15th marks the one-year anniversary of the Boston Marathon bombing. We are aware that events such as this can trigger many emotions within our Flight Attendant group.  A tragedy such as this may have affected some of us in a very personal manner and we are here to offer support to anyone who may need that in coping with this sadness.  When tragedy strikes it can create a variety of mixed emotions within each of us.  We are here to help in any way we can.  We would like to remember all the lives lost and all those who suffered from the tragedy of the Boston Marathon bombing. Please call any of your EAP Representatives or the International Hotline if you need assistance.

Your AFA EAP/Pro Standards Council 71 program is a free, no cost benefit of your union dues.  We are a team of trained representatives, who are a confidential resource available to all AFA members, their families, and partners, to assist with personal, as well as work-related issues.

EAP representatives receive extensive training: Representatives, Lisa Gallegos and Kim Mayne-Sasser, having been committee members for over a year, attended a 3 day training In April, from which they received certification in peer response from the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation.

EAP Representative, Ellie Morrow, attended a 3 day training in March, receiving certification as an EAP Peer Representative, and certificate of completion in a Flight Attendant Drug and Alcohol Program, Regional Seminar.  These certifications focus on the various models of addiction, successful interventions, relapse and prevention.  The representatives also are experienced with financial/legal issues, workplace issues such as insurance questions, job stress, harassment, occupational injury/health issues, and professional standards conflict resolution: TALK IT OUT, DON’T WRITE IT UP.  These are invaluable training provided by our international office and we are very fortunate and grateful to have such a resource!

Fly safe, take care of yourself and each other,

Your AFA Council 71 EAP team:
